WARRINGTON CAMPUS – WORK BASED LEARNING

Could your business offer a student placement?

As part of their second year undergraduate studies our students have to complete a 5 week unpaid work placement.

The Warrington Campus of the University of Chester are seeking companies who would be willing to offer opportunities to their students this year from 8th May – 8th June 2012 (143 hours minimum) at no cost to you.

They have students studying a range of BA/BSc degree programmes here in Warrington, eg. Business Management, Finance, Marketing, Events Management, Journalism, PR, Advertising, Media Studies, Commercial Music Production, TV and Radio Production, Sport Development.

The students have a good knowledge of their subject area and are keen to gain expertise and develop skills in the workplace and enhance their employability upon graduation.

How can you benefit?

• Extra pair of hands
• Fresh perspective and new ideas
• No cost involved
• Student can take responsibility for a project
• Development opportunities for your staff
• Help to develop the workforce of the future

The Warrington Campus of the University has a dedicated Work Based Learning (WBL) Office to oversee the whole of the placement process together with tutor support throughout the placement.

Here is what some of our placement providers have had to say:

"Throughout her placement the student has been enthusiastic, reliable and willing to get involved, her approach has been professional and proactive at all times. She is a great ambassador for the Business Management course and for the University of Chester"  - Scottish Power, Warrington

" The student worked very well with the team, willing to try new things, showed initiative and asked appropriate questions when he needed to.  Produced excellent work, especially his piece from the second heat of Warrington's Got Talent"   - Radio Warrington

"The student was a useful member of the team who took on board every job we gave her to do, she did the work with a great deal of competence and knowledge of IT and databases.  We have been able to offer her a short term paid employment post covering the summer holidays"  - Warrington Disability Partnership

Participating in the programme is easy; contact Dianne Noon, WBL Placement Co-ordinator, Warrington Campus on 01925 534242 or email d.noon@chester.ac.uk for more information.
