Tips on preparing to sell your house.

It will take a few days to completely clean and prepare your house for sale.

You need to take a step back and make it a house the viewers can imagine living in.

 De-Clutter and De-Personalise

Potential buyers need to imagine themselves living in your house, so get rid of ornaments. Put things you don't really use on a daily basis in the attic or storage. Consider putting large pieces of furniture in storage, this will make rooms feel much bigger. Focus on the hallway clear away coats, wellies and clutter and in the kitchen clear the surfaces of appliances and jars and have nice clean tea towels.

 Clean Up and freshen up.

Make your house sparkle.

If you'd rather not re-decorate, it is still essential that the house be spotless. Getting the house spotless will be time well spent, consider have the carpets, sofa covers, oven and windows cleaned inside and out. Make sure there are no pet hairs around, some people have allergies to animal hair. Pay special attention to the kitchen, put contents of the cupboards tidy. In the bathrooms, tidy away all your products, bathrooms need to be inviting and hygienic, consider re-grouting, and have white clean towels out and maybe a new toilet seat. If you are feeling extra artistic tie ribbons round the towels. Watch out for the over-stuffed wardrobe, people do look in them to check the amount of storage space, so clear them out.

Finally, the garden is now seen as an additional room, so be sure to make your garden feel like a great space for entertaining and relaxing. This time of year brush up those leaves.

 Viewings

First impressions do count.

Mow the lawn.

Sweep up the leaves on the front,

Trim your bushes.

Make sure visitors can clearly read your house number.

If you have parking, leave the space free for the viewer to park in.
