So after much speculation its finally been confirmed what will replace the old Woolworths store in Warwick's Market Place, with Costa Coffee taking around half of the space in a few months time.
I don't seem to be the only person disappointed by this news. Nothing against Costa Coffee, but it seems a wasted opportunity of a large building in a prime location that could have drawn people into the town. I think everyone was hoping that the new store would attract people and provide something Warwick doesn't already have (Warwick certainly isn't short of coffee shops or cafes!).
I don't think anyone could argue that Costa is going to draw anybody in that isn't already in town. So surely all this will do is spread business even thinner for the many existing coffee shops & cafes?
I realise that an empty old store isn't good either, but I fail to see how this will be good for Warwick in the long run.
I'm Ross,
I run thebestof Warwick. I really enjoy the chance to shout about the many fantastic local businesses & things we have going on in the area. If you have any local opinions, news or events...
