The Giggling Squid menu offers an array of seafood, curries, stir fries, meat dishes, rice and noodles. Warwick will also serve the renowned Giggling Squid Thai tapas lunch menu featuring an array of small plates such as Duck in baby leaf canapes; Seared scallops with spicy lime dressing; Thai pork dumplings; and Papaya salad. There is also a range of Tapas ‘tasting sets’ on offer priced between £9.75 and £11.95, each with a selection of four carefully curated dish combinations - choose from the Hungry Squid, the Wealthy Squid or Two Giggling Squids. The two dish meal combi, priced at £6.95, offers fantastic value for lunch time guests.
The extensive evening menu includes popular staples such as Thai green curry; Massaman chicken curry or for the more adventurous, the spicy Tropical jungle curry, combined with showstoppers like ‘Stand up seabass’ (a crispy golden fillet standing on its tail with peanut, fresh chilli, shallots, lime, lemongrass and ginger) or the ‘Crying Beef’, a North East Thai special of grilled sirloin accompanied with spicy dipping sauce. And of course there are some tasty squid dishes on offer, including the signature Salt and pepper squid. Those looking for something lighter can opt for steamed dishes and salads such as Ginger soy scallops (served in shells and steamed with soy sauce, sliced ginger, spring onion and shiitake mushrooms) and Thai beef salad.
If you’re feeling thirsty, Giggling Squid’s drinks menu includes some very special wines and an exciting cocktail list, which includes a Hibiscus Spritz of hibiscus infused vodka, strawberries and dry rosé wine topped with soda (£6.95) or a Thai G&T made from London Dry Gin infused with kaffir lime leaf and ginger (£6.95).
For the perfect sweet hit, guests can tuck into desserts like Caramelised mango cake or Chocolate Feuillantine, as well as a range of ice cream and sorbets including Black sesame, Rose yoghurt and Lemongrass & basil made to request by the founders’ favourite little ice cream shop in Brighton.
Families can also take advantage of the Little Tapas menu, designed for children and featuring smaller versions of popular dishes including Chicken satay and Pad Thai.
Like all Giggling Squids, Warwick will have its own individual character and charm with open fireplaces shaping the centre of the restaurant and antique beams throughout. Wooden floors and exposed brickwork, combined with a variety of beautiful reclaimed mirrors, create a warm and welcoming ambience. In keeping with the upcycled theme, the space will showcase classic Giggling Squid features including handmade driftwood artwork and a stunning hand woven, intricate web of flowers, made by Co-Founder Pranee Laurillard. Head downstairs to discover a celebration of Pranee’s imagination; a wonderfully cosy room decorated with trellises artfully covered in foliage.
Owned by Thai-born Pranee Laurillard and her husband Andrew, Giggling Squid - the nickname of one of their three children - was founded in the basement of a tiny fisherman’s cottage, now the Brighton restaurant, where dreams of replicating a little taste of home became a reality. The couple opened their first site in Hove in 2009 and have gone on to establish a strong reputation for authentic Thai cooking with an emphasis on signature curries and coastal specialities. The launch of Warwick takes the family of restaurants to 18.
