Leamington Royals Rugby League player Ben Rogers will have topped off the perfect week last week with a trip to the Willows Stadium in Salford, home of Salford City Reds Rugby League to play in the 'Two Cities Rugby League Challenge' against Salford University after picking up his BUCS champion shield medal.
Ben is in his first year studying a degree in Civil Engineering Meng at the University of Manchester but that did not stop him being a part of the Student Rugby League team that beat cross-city rivals Manchester Met on Thursday 17th March to become the 2011 BUCS Shield Champions.
Ben began his Rugby League career for the Leamington Royals in 2009 and has made great strides since his introduction to the sport 3 years ago, even helping the Royals win the Co-operative Midlands regional league last season.
Monday’s Varsity game against Salford Uni was not to be for Ben, with Manchester losing in a close fought battle, final score Salford University 26 Manchester University 18.

We hope to see an increase in the Royals supporters this year, we will welcome any rugby lovers down the the Crofts when our Season kicks off on 8th May 2011.
