Playgrounds are a great resource for parents if you have children - they’re free, fun, and if no-one is looking, the parents can have a go too!

The arrival of a new playground for Oxhey Park was celebrated when it was opened on Monday by local school children and by Elected Mayor Dorothy Thornhill.

Pupils from many local schools, including Bromet Primary School, Bushey Manor Junior School, Oxhey Infants and the Oxhey Early Years Centre, came along and celebrated the new park and had cake.

Elected Mayor Dorothy Thornhill said; “As with all our new parks, we met with local children and asked them what they wanted. The parks are for them after all – and it was wonderful today to see them having so much fun!”

The council also consulted with the Oxhey Village Environment Group and Friends of Oxhey Park – both groups being very active and involved in the area. Work started in March this year, and was completed on time and on budget by Proludic, the contractor chosen for the park.

New equipment includes a zip wire, sand pit, basket swing, junior and toddler swings, a trampoline and junior climbing frame, talk tubes, a gyrospiral, roundabout, parallel bars and various play panels, tables and playhouses.

So with the summer holidays just around the corner- the park is a great way to spend an afternoon. Pack a picnic and suncream, and remember- you’re never too old to have a go on the swings!
