Fresh air and the great outdoors are still free - just about and a recent initiative by BTCV is helping local residents to get out and enjoy the open spaces around Watford, get some exercise and kep fit in a supported way while at the same time doing something positive for the environment. The Green Gym scheme which is part funded by Watford Borough Council and The Harlequin has welcomed many volunteers during January who have been busy planting almost 100 trees, transforming Timberlake reed-bed and improving Knutsford Playing Fields.
The idea is that by working together to improve local green spaces volunteers become physically and mentally healthier. Improved fitness and energy helps to reduce anxiety and depression, improving mood, self worth and body image.
So if your good intentions of the New Year are beginning to flag why not visit the Green Gym to get fit, have fun and do something positive for the environment?
