Celebrating World Fairtrade Day
Watford became the UK's 250th Fairtrade town inn 2007 and on Saturday 8 May, Watford Borough Council organised some free drop-in art and music workshops at Charter Place shopping centre to celebrate World Fairtrade Day.
Professional artist Joanna Scott was on hand to help participants create two fantastic Fairtrade collages from recycled materials. Drum performances and a music workshop were provided by African arts-in-education theatre company Osagyefo.
The Watford Fairtrade Steering Committee was present with an information stall and displays of Fairtrade products were supplied by Oxfam and M&S. Passers-by were also treated to free samples of Fairtrade coffee and chocolate by Starbucks.
