Businesses across Watford are being urged to consider formulating World Cup strategies in advance of the tournaments kick off on Friday 11th June to avoid any potential problems.
With a predicted surge in people taking time off work to catch the games, the results of a recent survey have warned that businesses may not be as prepared as they thought to successfully manage employee relations during the World Cup.
The survey, published by legal firm DLA Piper, polled 352 business and HR leaders and found that over half plan to offer flexible working hours to staff who wish to catch the World Cup games, with many utlising shift swaps and early finishes to accomodate staffs requests whilst still maintaining productivity.
Tim Marshall, head of employment at DLA Piper commented: "After what has been a really tough couple of years, a lot of UK businesses are seeing the World Cup as providing a bit of light relief and are offering flexibility as a way of boosting employee relations, as well as trying to mitigate the impact of unexpected absences in the workplace."
