We (The Best of Watford team) have just returned from our Christmas lunch, having recently discovered a truly hidden gem of Watford.
Rodells in St Johns Wood Road in Central Watford (just down the road from Watford Junction) is a family-run business that has a distinctly relaxed boho atmosphere that is moving with the times.
It’s a bijou bar and restaurant, serving different dishes on its menu every day. The restaurant has recently had an extensive refurbishment and it has to be one of the coolest places to go for food and fun in Watford, with the most welcoming staff and atmosphere.
Today the team were served a delicious succulent Caribbean jerk chicken with rice and peas, nasi goreng (a Indonesian rice dish) and tempura code (with frites, opting for salad as a side), all of this was washed down with an Organic red wine and cola, and by far, the best homemade carrot cake we've had in a long time.
Mario, who is a musician, producer and now cook extraordinaire who owns Rodells, is obviously passionate about the right tasting ingredients, fairtrade, organic products and world recipes…..and building a community spirit.
The restaurant and bar, like its website says has many guises for breakfast, lunch or dinner, eat in, eat out, and delivery. It also transforms into a meeting or party venue.
We will definitely be going back, strongly recommend you pay a visit too, experience it for yourself …..join Mario and be part of the “Rodells Community”.
