Watford Council have handed the keys of Holywell Community Centre to Watford CVS, a local independent charity which acts as an umbrella organisation for over 150 local voluntary and community groups.
Bob Jones, the Chief Executive of CVS, said "The move will make a big difference to Watford CVS and we will be able to offer a better service to members throughout the Borough. We also plan to run the best possible community centre for local people."
Watford Borough Council is investing over £450,000 in refurbishing the centre at Holywell and the works are scheduled to be completed in October 2010 when the facilities will re-open.
