Members of the Watford Mosques & Welfare Association for the Muslim Community have raised £10,000 for local Watford based charity Peace Hospice Care. The Association's members raised funds throughout 2017 for the Hospice and presented a cheque for the total sum on Monday 19th March to Peace Hospice Care's Chief Executive, Declan Carroll.
Rasheed Choudhry, a Trustee for the Watford Mosques & Welfare Association for the Muslim Community, said: "We recognise that Peace Hospice Care provides a vital service to the community and we want to support their work as much as we can. Many people don't realise that the Hospice is a charity and that their work is reliant on the goodwill of the public. We want to help ensure that they can continue to deliver their specialist services for generations to come."
Declan Carroll, CEO at Peace Hospice Care, said: "We are extremely grateful to the Watford Mosques & Welfare Association for the Muslim Community for their generous donation. We rely heavily on donations and members of the Association have been advocates for the Hospice for many years - we are touched by their kindness. Such heartfelt and continued interest and support really does make a difference."
Every year Peace Hospice Care needs £5 million to run and deliver its services. The charity provides free, specialist, care for patients, and their families, facing a life-limiting illness in South West Hertfordshire and the wider area.
