Registration is open for Peace Hospice Care’s Starlight Walk which returns this year to Watford on Saturday July 13th. The fundraising walk, which starts at 8.30pm in Cassiobury Park, is kindly sponsored by Imagine.

In previous years the event was women only but this year the event is open to all – men, women and children.  The walk offers a choice of a 3, 6 or 13 mile route through Watford town and the surrounding areas.

Amanda Lacey, whose Dad passed away at the Hospice in 2015, is taking part in the Starlight Walk this year. She said: “At the worst time of our lives, the Hospice was like a breath of fresh air. Dad was truly one of the best and meant a lot to so many people, and I knew from the moment I walked in with Dad that the Hospice was in my heart and I wanted to give back. I’m doing the Starlight Walk with my mum, my sister, her eldest daughter, my husband and our children. It’s a great event and we like that it starts and finishes so close to the Hospice.”

Lisa Rowland, Events Fundraising Manager at Peace Hospice Care, said: “We are really excited that the Starlight Walk is being relaunched. It was a really popular event in the past and meant a lot to many of our supporters. The changes we have made this year have been done to improve the inclusivity of the event and ensure that all demographics of the community can join in. This will also create a great community spirit which is really at the core of Peace Hospice Care. The Walk is a wonderful event to remember a loved one and create lasting memories with your nearest and dearest. All participants will be given a commemorative forget-me-not plastic flower, on which they can write a dedication to a loved one and then plant at the Hospice or take home for their own garden.”
