This new book Cassiobury the Ancient Seat of the Earls of Essex tells the significant story of a remarkable estate, family and parkland, that has never been put onto paper, in the form of a book before.
Watford's respected parks historian Paul Rabbitts, and Watford Museum curator Sarah Priestley have written a book about Watford's much-loved park, detailing it's fascinicating history and share with you stunning photographs, many of which are from the museum's own collection and have never been published before.
Cassiobury Park is one of the remnants of the great lost estates of our country, that covers an area twice the size of Hyde Park in London and is now the largest park in Hertfordshire and in the town.
As we all know, Cassiobury Park, is no ordinary park.
The book traces the story of Cassiobury from monastic lands, to the seat of the Earls of Essex and Cassiobury House, to the beautiful public park we know today.
You can get your copy, signed by the Authors of this beautiful book from Watford Museum for £20.
