Watford Council appear to be delivering a double benefit for residents with their latest investments in more efficient equipment for waste collection, thereby reducing costs and delivering environmental benefits.
This has been achieved because the Council have recently taken delivery of 12 new kerbside collection vehicles to help with the collection of domestic, green and trade waste across the town.
They are a major replacement of the current fleet and are expected to offer maximum reliability and efficiency, combined with minimum carbon emissions. The new Euro 5 trucks use AdBlue technology, making them greener and more fuel efficient.
It is estimated that the council will save £155,000 per annum in reduced leasing costs, maintenance and hire of replacements compared to 2009/10.
