£52,000 has, so far, been raised for Peace Hospice Care by trekkers who took part in the charity’s Cambodia Challenge earlier this month (between the 4th and 13th February 2018). The participants trekked approximately 65 kilometres in Peace Hospice Care’s Cambodia Challenge to raise funds for the local charity.
The Hospice’s trek took the participants through Cambodian villages, rice paddies and the jungle to reach the iconic temples of Angkor Wat. Tracey Cerasale, from Watford, was one of the 13 trekkers who took part in the trek. She said: “My father-in-law died in the Hospice’s Inpatient Unit in June 2017 and we were blown away by the care and kindness extended to us by the staff. The trek just felt so right for me as I was looking for a challenge that would push me both emotionally and physically. It gave me a focus after a very difficult couple of years and I also felt that it was fitting to sign up in memory of my father-in-law.”
Lisa Rowland, Events Manager at Peace Hospice Care, said: “We’re thrilled that the trek was such a success and that everyone enjoyed the experience so much. We have now launched our overseas trek for 2019, which is a trekking safari in Kenya. It has had a tremendous response so far. So, I’d urge anyone interested to sign up as soon as possible to grab a place.”
