Local people across Watford will be venturing to their nearest polling station today as Watford opens for votes in both the general and local elections.
Weeks of campaigning by both local and national candidates culminate today as people across the UK cast their votes for who they wish to form our next government.
The Parliamentary Election, the Mayoral Election and the Election for Local Councillors for all 12 wards are all taking place across Watford today, with polling stations open from 7am until 10pm this evening to cope with demand.
The Council is expecting a record number of local people to turn out during this election, with many residents and business owners taking a renewed interest in the political system following the credit crunch and the loss of local jobs.
Polling in Watford will close at 10pm this evening, with a result expected at around 4am on Friday morning once all the votes have been totalled.
