Allegations arose this week that the England football team had been bugged during its latest stay at The Grove hotel in Watford.
National media are reporting that private conversations and discussions between players and team officials made before last week's friendly against Egypt were secretly recorded in the hotel and offered for sale to rival teams and newspapers.
Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson, whose team also experienced similar concerns following a device being planted in the home dressing room at Old Trafford before a game against Chelsea in 2005, commented on the claims: "It happened to us once before. I would be concerned about it. Preparation involves discretion and secrecy."
Football Association legal teams are currently battling to prevent details of the recordings becoming public.
