Watford Borough Council is offering grants of up to £2000 for events or project-based activities through its new Small Grants Fund.

The grants are available to any Watford-based group (not for profit) or community organisation, and you can apply at any time of year.

To be successful, applicants should apply under one of the four following categories:

Public clean ups - Ridge Residents Association successfully applied and received funding towards a litter pick up and bulb planting

Improving the visual look of the town - North Watford Playing Fields and Nara Woods both benefitted from the bulb planting project

Events or activities which either celebrate the town's history - Friends of Watford Museum were able to print a 'Heritage Guide to Watford'

Events or activities which celebrate the town's community and diversity - The Watford Celebration Group received funding towards it's annual event to bring togeth local community, cultural and faith groups.

Elected Mayor Dorothy Thornhill said “This is a great resource for local groups looking to hold an event to celebrate our heritage or community, or clean up the town in some way. Please do get in touch with our friendly funding team to find out more!”

You can download and print an application pack from the Council's website, including an FAQ sheet, or contact the funding team via email community@watford.gov.uk or one of following  numbers: 01923 278319, 278326 or 278247.

So if you are part of a local community group who are big on ideas and enthusiasm but restricted by lack of funding, get in touch now and help celebrate our heritage and keep Watford the town we can be proud of.
