As Chairman of the council, Shirena is First Citizen of Watford and her main role over the next year will be to act as the official representative of the council on civic and ceremonial occasions and to be a figurehead in the community.
The elected Chairman's two chosen charities for her term are the Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust and Signpost, a local charity which offers free and confidential counselling to 11 to 25 year olds in the area
Shirena’s consort for her year in office is Councillor Helen Lynch.
