Watford officials hope to secure increased Government funding.
Watford's Mayor Dorothy Thornhill and MP Richard Harrington met with MP Bob Neil from the Department for Communities and Local Government to argue for Watford Borough Council's resettlement grant to be reconsidered.
An announcement in December of plans to revise grants to local authorities left Watford much worse off than first thought.
The revision involved significant changes to concessionary fares and to the floor protection plan.
The officials today put forward their argument that the current concessionary fare system is unfairly organised given the significant role that Watford plays regionally.
The grant revisions come as part of the Government's nationwide cuts in an attempt to secure economic recovery. However, Watford Borough Council feel these cuts are too harsh and aim to ensure that Watford is represented fairly in national Government.
