Ok, a horse can have an “off day” or stumble at the third or whatever, so maybe rather than placing a bet you might be better to invest in a small share of the horse itself. It’s a kind of crowd funding isn’t it? And if that appealed to you you’d probably be looking for a share in a sound horse, on a good yard, with an experienced and successful trainer who could demonstrate historical success and real passion for what they do.
The same considerations could apply to an investment in any business but can these kinds of rational considerations fly out the window in a gale of excitement and hype?
