Watford's very first outdoor ice rink will be opening this Saturday (20th November 2014) and to celebrate, Watford Council is giving away ten pairs of tickets... do you want to be the first to break the ice on Watford's Big Skate?
Located in the events space - near the pond at the top of The Parade - with the town’s twinkling 30ft tree as a backdrop, the ice rink will be the perfect festive activity, open all the way through the Christmas season until Sunday 4 January.
For a chance to win a pair of free tickets, email competition@watford.gov.uk and names will be drawn at random.
To ensure there’s plenty of atmosphere at the rink, there is also a small performance space open to all local talent looking to perform in front of an audience. Local singers, musicians, bands and choirs are being encouraged to come forward and book a slot to perform free of charge.
Any local talent interested in taking part should contact laura.horn@watford.gov.uk to agree arrangements and performance times.
Elected Mayor Dorothy Thornhill said: “I don’t know what I’m more excited about, watching everyone out skating or the X-Factor-style performances! I’m thrilled that Watford will have its own outdoor ice rink.
"People can skate, do their Christmas shopping and even treat themselves to dinner – we’ve got it all here.”
The rink is open every day from 11am to 9pm, except Christmas and New Year’s Day, but make sure you book ahead to avoid disappointment. Purchase from the Palace Theatre website: www.watfordpalacetheatre.co.uk or the box office: 01923 225671.
