Based in Watford, Peace Hospice Care provides all-round care in a beautiful, peaceful environment.
Specialist staff provide physical, emotional and spiritual care for people in South West Hertfordshire with a life-limiting or terminal illness. Services are open to all people with a life-limiting illness, not just those with cancer.
The Peace Hospice cares for people as inpatients or day patients. Hospice at home care is also available for those who can't or prefer not to come to the Hospice.
The Watford charity offers bereavement support to families, including a special programme for children.
The team also work in nursing homes, providing education, support and mentoring on end-of-life issues.
Services can be accessed for free, including through referral by a GP, community nurse, hospital nurse or doctor.
However, The Peace Hospice receives less than 20% of its funding from the NHS and relies on donations to keep services running. £3.8 million is needed in voluntary income this year in order to keep caring for patients and supporting their families.
The Watford-based charity has 13 shops in the region, which provide more than a third of the income needed. Could you help by donating a bag of unwanted clothes?
Volunteers also play a major part. There are currently 650 volunteers, with 6 volunteers for every paid member of staff. Could you spare some time? Perhaps you could sponsor a nurse from just £4 per month?
Events are also incredibly important; please visit Peace Hospice Care's website for the full programme.
How about signing up to the Peace Hospice Care's lottery to be in with a change of winning a weekly prize of £1,000 or rollover of up to £10,000? Support an incredible local charity and have the opportunity of winning yourself!
Please call Peace Hospice Care on 01923 330 330 for more information or visit the Watford charity's website.
