Having cycled 110 miles along the South Downs Way this summer and swearing that I would never subject my body to such a bone shaking experience again, I've gone and put my name down to cycle 137 miles from London to Birmingham! The thought of smooth towpaths along the edge of the Grand Union Canal certainly sounded more forgiving but then what about the sections of tunnels needed to get through a number of hills along the route? I am told we will have to cycle over the hills and rejoin the canal on the other side.. this sounds like the South Downs Way all over again!
Thankfully I can rely on Cyclelife in Wellingborough to prepare my bike again and supply me with enough energy tablets to keep my body going. As with all these challenges there is of course a very worthy Charity, Mind of Wellingborough. For every painfull mile I cycle, I know that there will be a week of pain that they have helped someone deal with and I am sure that will keep me going.
If you would like to help me raise money through this cycle ride please email me at wellingborough@thebestof.co.uk
