There are plenty of lovely walks in the area surrounding Welwyn and Hatfield. Have you tried the willow-lined footpath through Singlers Marsh Nature Reserve north of Welwyn village or explored the many paths trhough Mardley Heath Nature Reserve? My favourite is the Ayot Greenway, on the old railway line to the west of Welwyn Garden City, partly because it is not so muddy at this time of year and partly because it has amazing views over beautiful Hertfordshire countryside. And, if you are feeling energetic, you can combine it with a detour for lunch at The Brocket Arms in Ayot St Lawrence or The Wicked Lady in Wheathampsted. Cheers!
