Residents of Welwyn and Hatfield who want to mark the 70th anniversary on 8th May this year are being encouraged to do so. Hertfordshire County Council has decided not to charge their usual road closure fees for community events so long as applications are received by 20th April.
On Friday 8th May we celebrate Victory in Europe Day, marking the end of the Second World War in Europe. Hertfordshire was recognised as the street party county par excellence in the whole country for both the Royal Wedding in 2011 and The Queen’s Jubilee in 2012. The removal of road closure fees will, it is hoped, encourage communities to get together again to celebrate.
