Local families are campaigning for a pedestrian crossing on Valley Road, saying that there have been 'near misses' and that it’s only a matter of time before there’s a tragic accident.
Families report driving their children to school instead of walking very short distances to avoid crossing Valley Road, not feeling able to allow their older children to walk to school independently and a general feeling of unease crossing amongst all ages.
Many people need to cross the road to get to schools, nurseries, buses, tennis, scout and golf clubs and the town centre.
The group says that vehicles are often travelling at high speed with high density of the traffic at peak times and there is currently no safe place to cross.
