Last week X-Factor winner Joe McElderry switched on the Regent Street lights, accompanied by the stars of the Chronicles of Narnia films. Shoppers were greeted by a transformed West End, complete with over £3 million worth of offers and entertainment.
The festive celebrations are set to continue this Thursday 18th November, as model and radio presenter Lisa Snowdon is the special guest star at the Bond Street Switch On. There will be a spage age playground with gigantic inflatable globes surrounded by planets and stars around Carnaby Street. Life size astro Santas keep the theme firmly on Christmas whilst still adding a unique "universal" charm!
Shoppers will also be able to enjoy a 20% discount at the event on Thursday, with 115 shops participating including top name stores such as American Apparel and Pepe Jeans London. On top of this amazing discount, visitors to the event can take part in over 50 different activities - why not customise your Hilfiger Jeans with the help of an expert in the "Made For You" campaign? Other attractions include free goodie bags at Aqua, complimentary drinks at Boutique by Jaeger, WeSc and Replay. You can also enjoy festive treats at Lazy Oaf and most stores will be offering special gift wrapping for your Christmas shopping.
The festive fun will continue at Covent Garden, who are hosting a "Kissmas" event under a 50ft Christmas tree, which will light up when people kiss under the mistletoe beneath it. Visitors to Covent Garden can pet live reindeer, take part in the singles nights underneath the kissing tree and buy themed Christmas goodies in the Love Food Market - why not try the heart shaped mince pies!
Chairman of West End Business Alliance, and Westminster Council’s Cabinet Member for Business, Brian Connell said: “All these events showcase just how much the West End has to offer for residents and visitors of all ages from reindeer petting to stunning decorations. I always feel that a visit immediately gets me into the spirit of Christmas.”
