A new service launched at Church Street Library last week will give budding entrepeneurs access to the very latest market research and business information.

The Business Information Point is an essential service for Westminster as one in three businesses fail every year. The service aims to fill this gap by supporting both existing businesses and start-up companies. The dedicated suite at the Business Information Point has fantastic facilities including major trade and business directories, free computers, books and magazines.

Amongst the new facilities are online company and industry databases such as Experian, Kompass Worldwide and Nexis. This allows users to get up to date market research and ways to find funding, create mailing lists and source services and products. There will also be information on business opportunities and advice on business plans.

Monthly networking meetings will also be held at the library, covering a range of topics including business plans, marketing yourself on the web and help with tax. Most of the services provided at the Business Information Point are fully accessible online to suit even the busiest entrepeneur. Two more information points are due to be set up in Pimlico and Paddington later this year.

Cllr Brian Connell, Westminster Council's cabinet member for business, enterprise, and skills, said: "Small businesses are the life blood of our economy and the right information is vital for successful business decisions. This new Business Information Point will be an invaluable resource for people living and working in Westminster. It offers a wide and varied range of reference books, research tools and business information and will be of great use to everyone from budding entrepreneurs to experienced company executives."
