Weston Business woman makes her mark

Michaela Deasy- Smith brought her love for healthy eating to Weston super Mare two years ago and is already making an impact in the community with her introduction of the ‘food revolution’ – the new eating style that satisfies the palate and is good for the body!

Michaela goes out of her way to make patrons of THE GROVE BISTRO feel welcome and offers a gluten free, vegan , vegetarian and  diabetic friendly menu which is also a tasty alternative for all those people whose doctors have told them to “watch their weight” !  Michaela and her team were runners up in the Eating Out Gluten Free Eatery 2010, Coeliac competition.

Michaela trained as a radio journalist in Australia and this opened the door for her to become a key player in organizing major hair events during 1998 – 1999 such as the London Hair Journal Awards.   From this she became a sought after party and events planner for celebrities such as James Dysan, Tina Hobley (of Hobley City fame) to name a couple, and we can’t leave out - a member of the royal family, the delectable,  Prince Harry.

Fortunately for Weston, Michaela decided to return to her first love, namely sharing ways and means of living a healthy life-style and Weston is now the richer for her commitment to service and excellence.

She bought the Alasia cafe and has given it a new face and new look as “THE GROVE BISTRO”.  Equipped with WiFi and comfy lounge area, the Bistro is well suited for business people needing a place to ‘catch-up’ on business calls during time between meetings or for friends to meet for a chat.

Located opposite the Playhouse Theatre, the Bistro is an ideal spot to enjoy a pre-theatre meal or a relaxed drink while discussing the good, or otherwise, of the show you’ve just attended.

Says Michaela  “When I first came here, our business was impeded by anti-social behaviour but I’m  happy to say that after working with the authorities this is now a thing of the past.  Moving here has been a challenge for me but I’ve met some wonderful people and it’s great to see positive improvements coming to Weston.”

“We also run the Little Person’s cookery lessons when the children have great fun while learning to make healthy food choices which will create a good foundation for the rest of their lives,” says Michaela.
