Premier Foods is to stop making Hovis rolls and will close a distribution depot at Martland Mills near Wigan at a cost of £4m.
The firm is trying to cut costs in a bid to reduce its debt . The firm has net debts £1.375bn.
Chief exec Robert Schofield said: "We are progressing well on our strategic cost reduction targets of delivering procurement savings and improving manufacturing efficiency.”
We call it terrible news for the almost 700 people the company hires in the North West who must be very worried for their jobs.
