Celebrating 100 years of theatre in Wimbledon
Throughout 2010 New Wimbledon Theatre is celebrating its 100th birthday - a century of rich theatrical history. Planned celebrations include a Schools Showcase specially devised to honour the last ten decades and performed by local senior schools in aid of the Wimbledon Civic Theatre Trust (24 – 25 June), a Variety Gala (26 September) in aid of the Entertainment Artists Benevolent Fund and the WCTT and extra special pantomime performances of Peter Pan (26 December) - the venue’s actual birthday.
Become a Centenary Angel!
Be part of the history and help New Wimbledon Theatre stage the biggest and most glittering variety performance Wimbledon has ever seen by becoming a Centenary Angel!
A Centennial Celebration, on Sunday 26th September, is a fabulous star-studded Variety Gala Show given in aid of the Entertainment Artistes Benevolent Fund (usually associated with the annual Royal Variety Performance) and the Wimbledon Civic Theatre Trust (the theatre's own local charity for young people aged 11-18 years). Although those stars involved give of their time for free there are significant costs involved in staging the show and the theatre needs your help - their friends, supporters and neighbours - to make this a really successful evening financially for the chosen charities.
It only costs £10 to become a Centenary Angel! Your heavenly status will be acknowledged with your name listed in the souvenir programme linking you with the theatre's history for this very special night to remember.
To become an Angel or to nominate a special person as an Angel, simply telephone the Box Office (0844 781 7646) or call into the theatre in person, and purchase a £10 Centenary Angel receipt. While you are at it don’t forget to buy your tickets for the show –prices range from £100- £25 – black tie is optional.
