Festival of Ideas

Join us at St George’s House, Windsor Castle from 21- 24 June 2016 for a week of lectures, seminars and debates as we celebrate their fiftieth anniversary.

Founded in 1966, St George’s House has provided a safe physical and intellectual space where people who are prepared to make a difference in society gather to debate topics of national and international significance.

The House is a place which thrives on cogent argument and careful listening, a place where dialogue is pre-eminent. Their annual programme of Seminars and Lectures seeks to nurture wisdom in the interests of a better society.

Annual Lecture: Reflections on Shakespeare

6:30 PM Fri, 24 Jun 2016

2016 marks the 400th anniversary of England’s greatest playwright. Shakespeare’s plays, as relevant as ever today, live through the beauty of their language and through their author’s unique grasp of human nature in all its guises.

This evening’s Annual Lecture will offer an erudite, personal perspective on this most significant of writers.

Seminars: £40 per person

Why not be part of a St George’s House seminar during our Festival of Ideas?

Taking each evening’s lecture as its theme, this is an opportunity to look in depth at the issues involved. Refreshments, including a two-course lunch, will be provided.

Seminars run from 10am  - 4pm, with introductory presentations from the facilitators, and then two sessions of discussion, with the possibility of group work. Lunch is served between the session, and participants can attend Evensong in St George’s Chapel afterwards.
