Summer Opening - 1 April to 30 September
    Monday to Sunday: 9am - 6pm

What items can I recycle?
To keep recycling rates high plus reduce illegal dumping and abuse by traders, guidelines are in place detailing the items which can and can't be taken. Some items may be refused if you have not followed the guidelines.

If you need help recycling or unloading any items, just ask one of the site operatives who'll be happy to help.

When you reach the site simply separate your waste and recycle into the correct containers.

Remove contents from black sacks and plastic bags.

NB waste disposed of in the non-recycling container will be sent to landfill.

Are there access restrictions?

You do not need a permit to enter the public site.

The entrance barrier has a height restriction of 1.75 metres (5ft 9 inches) so please check your vehicle's height before proceeding!

For safety reasons you are not allowed to park outside the centre and carry your waste into the site and children/pets must stay in your vehicle whilst you use the centre.

If you are carrying commercial waste or your vehicle is too big to enter the public site then you'll need to access the Waste Transfer Station. Please bear in mind that there are different opening times for this Station.

Waste Transfer Station

Opening hours

    Monday to Friday: 7am - 4pm
    Saturday: 7.30am - 12pm
Closed on Sunday and bank holidays

If there is a query as to the origin of the waste you are bringing to the centre then you may be asked to report to the weighbridge office where your vehicle would be inspected to make sure your are disposing of domestic waste.

Yellow hi-visibility vests must be worn when using the weighbridge which you can borrow, although these must be returned upon leaving.

Suitable footwear must also be worn e.g. open-toed footwear is prohibited and you will be prevented from tipping.

Commercial or trade waste

Commercial or trade waste operators must use the weighbridge during opening times and cannot use the HWRC.

Traders will need to show valid copies of their ‘Waste Carriers Licence’ at the time of tipping and as they have a legal duty of care to dispose of their waste properly they must pay commercial rates. It is illegal to use the HWRC to recycle or deposit trade waste.
