Bike & Go has launched its first ever bike hire facility outside of a Merseyrail train station to make it even easier for tourists and day-trippers to access Wirral’s attractions.
The bike rental facility is being housed at Seacombe Ferry Terminal, and will operate throughout the summer in order to provide those travelling on the ferry an easy way to continue their journey to the regions many offerings, or to start or end their commute.
Both commuters and day-trippers are expected to use the bikes as an enjoyable way of travelling home or from the ferry on to attractions such as Spaceport, New Brighton, and West Kirby.
For an annual registration fee of £10, plus a rental fee of £3.80 per 24 hours, users can hire bikes for two people for up to three days and drop them off at their nearest participating train station when they have finished using them.
The latest opening takes the number of Bike & Go’s rental facilities across the Merseyrail network to 30, with bikes available at train stations including Liverpool Central, Moorfields, Southport, New Brighton, West Kirby and Ormskirk.
Bikes can also be hired from a further 41 train stations across much of the North West, North East and Yorkshire, East and South East of England, and Scotland.
Suzanne Grant, Bike & Go director, said: “There is so much on offer for people in Wirral, and we want to make it as easy as possible for those travelling to Seacombe on the ferry to reach the many lovely destinations to be found there.
“We’ve launched the new bike hire facility in order to help people make the most of the summer, and to enjoy the mental and physical health benefits that cycling can bring.”
Mick Noone, Merseytravel’s Director of Integrated Transport, said: "We're delighted that Bike & Go have chosen the Seacombe Ferry Terminal as the latest location to host their bike hire facility.
