Woking Youth Council

Woking Youth Council was formed in 2003 after consultation with young people throughout the borough.

The aim of the youth council is to give young people a voice on subjects that matter to them and their peers.

The youth councillors are aged between 11- 19 years old and either live, work or are educated within the borough.

Meetings

Youth Councillors meet once a month in the council chamber giving them a real taste of democracy! Like the main councillors during their meetings they will chair, vice chair and minute taking. During a normal meeting youth councillors will make and advise councillors and officers on young people views. Recently they have been involved with the Campus Woking Consultation, Outdoor Youth Provision Consultation, the climate change strategy and equalities strategy.

The youth council organise events for young people to enjoy. The popular Uproar music night and a skate and bmx competition are examples of what they have ran.
