Wolverhampton Grand Theatre on opening night seeing an Agatha Christie classic - does theatre get any better than this?

Well, the Italian meal we had in Sopranos Italian restaurant before certainly added to the evening and got us off to a good start.

There is something really special about seeing one of the classics live at a great theatre and this is both a great production and a great theatre.

It seems as thought the musicals are getting all of the press these days but it's the true variety of the productions we get from Wolverhampton Grand theatre that make it a regular destination for us. Watching a great production of Witness for The Prosecution reminds me of how great theatre is and how we need to start shouting about it - so many people are missing out on brilliant entertainment.

This classic deserves and needs great performances and it received them in spades from Honeysuckle Weeks, Denis Lil, Ben Nealon, Robert Duncan (Drop the dead) and Jennifer Wilson.

I know that I have seen this production (years ago with Tyrone Power!!!! how old am I?) but I couldn't remember the ending.

You know there is going to be a twist at the end - we expect that but it is the twist that follows the twist that had us all smiling - Agatha had done it again.

We all professed that we knew that it would end this way but... all of us had been surprised - even those who should have remembered the ending (like me)

All in all - a fabulous performance - fabulous acting - fabulous play and a fabulous night out.

Topped off with a return to Sopranos Italian restaurant for after theatre drinks.

Do you know what you are missing?????

You really must go to the theatre more often.
