Wolverhampton Literature Festival - returning for its fifth year - is looking for authors who can create whimsical, exciting and fun adventures for young audiences in the city.
Festival organisers, in partnership with the Library Service and GoWrite, are looking for four aspiring children’s authors, over the age of 18, to write their own original Bedtime Story for the Children of Wolverhampton.
Winners will have their stories released over the festival weekend (February 12-14, 2021) as well as being published in a special collection of Wolverhampton Literature Festival Bedtime Stories. They will also receive £25 worth of shopping vouchers.
City of Wolverhampton Council Cabinet Member for City Economy, Councillor Stephen Simkins, said: “Each year we look for something new to entice audiences to the literature festival and having a children’s strand is the perfect way to achieve this.
“For all those budding authors this is a fantastic opportunity to get involved and get work published. Whether it be travelling to the moon or racing around the city, the story choices are endless.”
The competition is open to anyone who has a WV postcode. Work must be original and should only last five minutes long when read aloud. Terms and conditions can be found on the festival’s website.
Visit www.wolvesliteraturefestival.co.uk to register an expression of interest. The competition opens on Monday, January 11, and will close on Friday, January 29.
By registering you are granting permission to the Libraries Service to share your details with any external partners involved in the running of the competition i.e. GoWrite and Wolverhampton Art Gallery.
