I made a concerted effort to attend and support the New Arts Project to tackle domestic Abuse in Wolverhampton with the first of the six meetings held at @Gatis Community Space.
Gatis Community Space is set in a housing area and when my satnav said "you have arrived at your destination". I was a little surprised. There is on street parking and the inside is work in progress but already this safe space is welcoming with a play area and beautiful flowers. The weather was warm but the breeze from the trees was a welcoming coolness.
It is an safe space, where I could easily spend some time to just sit and listen to the breeze, the natural environment and read a book. A lovely, blissful, peaceful space! The group on this first session shared their very personal journey in their relationship and to give hope to many others who may be suffering in silence.
Mental health and physical well being is paramount in any relationship, especially to forming a healthy, rewarding one. We shared some snacks and some flowers in an attempt to bring joy and a smile. Just simply to show we care and we are here for you.
