There was lots of activities across Wolverhampton over the last two weeks as the city celebrated Fairtrade Fortnight , the time of year when campaigners raise awareness of why buying Fairtrade matters.
The campaign culminated in a special reception held at the Mayors Parlour in the city on Friday 4th March.
The event, hosted by Mayor Greg Brackenridge, saw school children across Wolverhampton awarded prizes for their winning artwork on the theme of Climate Change - ''choose the world you want'.
Julia Farrell Chair of Wolverhampton City Fairtrade Partnership said '' its important that we support the farmers and producers of the items we can't grow here due to our climate and that they get a fair days pay for a fair days work. The children who entered our art competition really grasp this message and this was reflected in the high standard of entries this year .
The event, sponsored by Wolverhampton Rotaries & Midcounties Co-operative saw the winners receive book tokens, easter eggs and a Fairtrade hamper for their school.
All winning posters are now upstairs at Central Library and will be on display for a month.
