It was almost positively indecent. A midweek night in October in Bilston and it was raining. Add into the mix the words "Kate Bush" and "tribute band" and it should be a no show, right?

And yet.

And yet the Robin 2 in Bilston was rammed to it`s 700 seat capacity with middle aged people with soppy looks on their faces as they celebrated 41 years of Kate Bush`s music. Is this even legal?

There didn`t appear to be anybody in the audience below the age of 50 and here they all were, having paid £16 for a ticket and having a good time. Who did they think they were behaving like that in the Robin 2 in Bilston?

Do the maths - a 700 seater venue at £16 per ticket. Not bad for a night`s work. There was no support band. Cloudbusting didn`t need one. Granted, the band came from Cornwall and they all shared the same van because they are proud members of Xtinction Rebellion and care about things like trying to save the planet (as if that matters much anyway).

"We are on constant tour" explained Michael Mayell, who plays keyboards "and we are due to play Derby and Cromer before we make our first trip to main land Europe. The Netherlands loves Kate Bush`s music. We are trying to reduce our carbon footprint."

Cloudbusting, who perform the music of Kate Bush from her incredible 41 year back catalogue. The band played for a full 2 hours as their adoring audience danced and sang their hearts out to all of their favourite songs. The people around this reviewer in the audience knew every line to such well-known songs as Hounds of Love, This Woman`s Work, Running Up That Hill, Army Dreamers and The Man With A Child In His Eyes.

Did this article mention "that 1978 song" called Wuthering Heights? Well, the band saved that for an encore and all around this reviewer middle aged men and women who should know better were dancing over the top, waving their arms around and taking it in turns to be Emily Bronte`s Heathcliff and Cathy.

And they were laughing! And having a good time! Where did they think they were? This is Bilston and 11 pm on a Thursday October evening. Is this even legal?

At the conclusion of 2 hours of fandom, Mandy Watson (aka Kate Bush) came on stage to thank the 700 crowd for their support with the other four members of the band Cloudbusting. Mandy, who had first come on stage and apologised for dressing like Morticia Addams so close to Halloween (to cheers and warm laughter from the audience) was crying with gratitude as the love from the audience flowed over her. It was all the poor soul could do was to keep on saying to the audience "Thank you. You are amazing".

Seriously. This band are top notch. They did not play like a Sad Dad Tribute but as professional musos are the top of their game. Each band member is a professional musician who has honed their craft by constant rehearsals and live performances for the past 7 years as Cloudbusting. The lead guitarist for a start, Chris Voysey, has toured the USA from coast to coast individually and ion other bands. He has also gigged all over the world. Breaking down the complexities of Kate Bush`s music and recreating that magic live on stage is right up his street.

This reviewer, by the way, loves the music of Kate Bush and Hounds of Love was gather soundtrack to his fin al year at university. He found it perplexing to be in the heart of like-minded people.

"We are all obsessives about Kate Bush" Mandy Watson proudly proclaimed from the stage to yet another spontaneous standing ovation. Mandy discovered the album The Kick Inside in her parents` record collection as a young girl and used to sing The Man With The Child In His Eyes into a hairbrush in front of a mirror. Now she sings in front of thousands of fans across the UK and gets paid for it.

The band is complete with Adam Aggis on drums and Dave Roberts on bass. On stage the passion for Kate Bush`s music wins over sceptical fans everywhere and it`s no surprise that they have been championed by BBC 1 as one of the most authentic tributes in the world. No mean feat.

The pure professionalism challenges perceptions of what a tribute band can be and it`s no won der that this results in sell-out performances across the UK. Their live performances are accompanied by eye-popping visuals that highlights the drama of Kate Bush`s music.

"Kate Bush`s music obsessed me as a child" explained keyboardist Michael Mayell. "I`d try and work out the chords and melodies from her songs when I was 11 years old on an old upright piano in the back room, day after day, driving everyone in the house mad. I never thought I`d get to play in front of people but, now that I do, I`d definitely say it is the best job in the world!"

According to Michael, the band has the support of 15,000 active Facebook followers who are divided in to sub groups - people who like the band, share cars, share hotels, linked people and people who like Kate Bush.

"There is nothing like live music" said Michael. "As a band we all try and reduce our carbon foot print but we have to go out there and play live music. You can`t beat what Kate Bush put on record. It`s what she spent years putting on vinyl but playing live is different because of the music`s raw emotional power".

The band have picked the music apart and examined how Kate Bush put it together. "Every note we play is what she created in the studio" said Michael. "They are songs about technology, love, frustration and anger. They are brilliant songs and we play them to like-minded people, a social group of fans, who just get it as we do when we listen to Kate`s music. They know all of the lyrics and B sides to the records. Kate Bush blew my min d and changed my life. I fell under her spell with the song Wuthering Heights and, 41 years later, here I am playing her music for a living. I con sider myself having the best job in the universe".
