At the last Festival, three of the local drama groups, Codsall Dramatic Society, Histons Players and Pattingham Drama Group, co-operated in providing plays for us all to enjoy. It would seem that they too enjoyed the participation so much that they are all joining us again in 2010. This time we welcome the addition of Studio 61.
On Saturday 20 March we welcome the renowned actor Robert Powell, perhaps best known for his television portrayals of Jesus and Jude the Obscure. He and his Company will entertain us with an evening entitled “A Celebration of Charles Dickens”, bringing many loved characters to life.
On the last Friday of the Festival (26 March), Julian Curry, best known for his portrayal of Claude Erskine-Brown in the series “Rumpole of the Bailey”, will be taking us through the Entire History of Wine (abridged!) in a presentation entitled “Hic”, followed by a wine tasting session for a maximum of a hundred people hosted by Waitrose.
The ever popular Photographic Competition and Exhibition returns from 13-19 March at St Christopher’s RC Church. Hopefully there will be as many entries as there have been in previous years, particularly in the “Happy Snapper” section. Contact Fred Turley at codsallartsfestival@googlemail.com for further details. Another exhibition is on offer over the weekend of the 13 - 14 March. It will be hosted by St Nicholas Church and will celebrate “Motherhood” through the medium of painting, photographs and woodcarvings, with displays from children of the local schools. The weekend will end with a special Mothering Sunday Service with items by “Voices in Harmony” and the choir from St Nicholas C.E. School.
More details will be revealed next month. Information about the full Festival is now available on the Codsall Arts Festival website: www.codsallartsfestival.org.uk. Anyone wishing to become a Patron and receive priority booking should contact Sheila Reynolds,
