COMMUNITY COURSE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN POLE POSITION AGAIN

Wolverhampton Community First (WLVCF) is a volunteer-led initiative that
primarily focuses on supporting young people to access skills and training as
well as entrepreneurial support.
Part of their work is running an entry-level Motor Maintenance course which
has become very popular, especially since they added a go-kart element. To
date, WLVCF has successfully delivered this course six times to young people
who have been at risk or involved with anti-social behaviour, giving them
experience of both practical work and the theory.
Unfortunately, WLVCF’s two go-karts were stolen recently and their course
came to a halt until the city council agreed to purchase replacements.
Leader of the City of Wolverhampton Council, Councillor Stephen Simkins
said: “Times are extremely tough right now for everyone but that should not
mean that organisations like this should have to abandon their hopes and
ambitions.
“As a council, we want people to thrive and realise their ambitions. WLVCF is
a volunteer-led organisation which has done some outstanding work with
young people.
“I’m very glad we’ve been able to award funds for new go-karts to get the
Motor Maintenance course back on the road to support the vital work done by
Saj and his team WLVCF; they provide invaluable services for young people
in our local community.”
