City of Wolverhampton Council today stood in solidarity with the people of Ukraine in celebrating their country’s Day of Independence by raising the nation’s flag outside its headquarters.
Mayor of the City of Wolverhampton, Councillor Sandra Samuels OBE, said: “It was my honour to raise the flag of Ukraine to celebrate Ukraine’s Independence Day. It is a particularly poignant day as it is also exactly six months since Russia's invasion of Ukraine.”
The City of Wolverhampton Council stands with and expresses its support for the people of Ukraine and the Ukrainian community in our City following the illegal invasion by the Russian State of the independent democratically elected sovereign Ukrainian nation state.
