Similar to last year, those eligible for a free Covid-19 and flu vaccination include all adults aged 65 years and over, people who live in a care home for older adults, people aged six months to 64 years with health conditions that make them more vulnerable, frontline health and social care staff including those working in care homes for older adults, and pregnant women.

Eligible people can get one or both vaccinations and are invited to book an appointment via the NHS website, on the NHS app or by calling 119.

Community pop-up clinics offering both vaccines without an appointment are also being hosted at a range of locations across Wolverhampton, including:

  • Sainsbury's, Bentley Bridge, tomorrow (Thursday 3 October), Thursday 17 October and Thursday 31 October from 11am to 6pm
  • Queen Square, Wolverhampton, on Friday 4 October, Friday 11 October, Friday 18 October, and Friday 25 October from 9am to 3pm
  • Park Village Education Centre, Cannock Road, on Saturday 5 October and Saturday 19 October from 10am to 4pm
  • Bilston Market on Monday 7 October, Monday 14 October, Monday 21 October and Monday 28 October from 8am to 2pm
  • Sainsburys, Raglan Street, Wolverhampton, on Thursday 10 October and Thursday 24 October from 9am to 3pm

Anyone not eligible for a free flu vaccination is reminded that they can get it for a small charge at participating pharmacists.

Sally Roberts, Chief Nursing Officer for the NHS Black Country Integrated Care Board, said: "It’s vital that everyone prepares for potential winter illnesses, especially those who are at higher risk.

“It can be easy to become complacent, however it’s important for those who are eligible to top up their protection, even if they have had a vaccine or been ill with flu or Covid-19 before, as immunity fades over time and these viruses change each year.

“Vaccines remain our best defence, keeping people from developing serious illnesses and helping to minimise hospitalisations during busy winter months. So, I would encourage anyone who receives an invite for either vaccine to please get booked in as soon as possible.”
