From Tuesday 23 June customers can experience the third and final phase of the Council’s markets – Bilston, Wednesfield and Wolverhampton market.
This decision to move into the third phase comes after a high-level of compliance from stall holders and visitors, as well as feedback from regular market users. The final stage will mean markets are fully operational including the use of public toilets – a thorough cleaning regime is in place.
Stall holders who did not fall into phase one or two of the re-opening process, have been invited to start trading again. This includes casual traders who must ensure social distancing measures are in place.
Councillor Steve Evans, Cabinet Member for City Environment at City of Wolverhampton Council, said: “Strict measures have been put in place to make sure the Government guidance is adhered to.
“Stall holders have been contacted and advised that they are welcome to return, but only if it’s safe for them to do so. We are working with traders to make sure they have the correct measures in place to operate safely.
“To help and support stall holders further, we’ve kept the rate of just 50% for traders’ rent charges.”
Markets opening times:
Customers are encouraged to pay using contactless to reduce the amount of cash being handled by staff. The council’s produced a poster for shops and businesses to print and display, advising staff and customers of social distancing measures in operation.
Anyone interested in becoming a stall holder, casual or permeant, there are vacancies at Bilston and Wednesfield market. For more information email markets@wolverhampton.gov.uk
When out in public people must stay 2 metres – or 6 feet – apart, unless they are from the same household.
