This year the theme is #FosteringMoments and we will be celebrating the moments that define Fostering journeys, big and small. The moments that built confidence, made young people feel safe and created memories. We will be celebrating the #FosteringMoments of our dedicated foster parents whose commitment to children and young people we highly value. We will also be holding events across the city for people to find out more about fostering.
Alison Hinds, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Director of Children’s Services, said: “We all want to see children and young people get the best possible start in life, so that they can realise their dreams and fulfil their potential. That’s exactly what being a foster parent for Wolverhampton is all about.
“Fostering can truly be a life-changing experience, both for foster parents and the young person they care for and, with currently over 200 fantastic fostering households, we are very lucky to have so many dedicated foster parents here in our city.
“But we have more youngsters who are looking for a permanent foster home and so we’d love to hear from people who have both a spare room and of course love in their heart to give the most vulnerable children and young people in our city a family home.”
Our foster parents come from a wide range of different backgrounds, with different experiences and skills and what they share is their commitment to making a difference to children and young people and helping them achieve their potential. Foster Care Fortnight is the perfect time for people to find out more about joining our fostering family. Visit us throughout the fortnight where we will be out and about in the community at a variety of venues.
Alternatively, those interested in fostering can attend one of our online information sessions, the next one is taking place on Thursday 23 May, 2024, at 6.30pm. To book, please visit: https://www.fosteringforwolverhampton.com/information-session/
You will be able to meet our team members as well as some of our foster parents to ask any questions and find out more about this rewarding role, including the professional support and training available as well as pay and allowances.
