Over fifty years in the gathering – though the earliest piece is only from 1995 – ‘Freshly dipped and bleeding love’ is Steven C. Davis’ debut poetry collection. Crafting a personal journey through loss and depression, love, sex, art, creativity and music (check out the three-part ‘This night wounds time (i)’, ‘Starless and pagan black (ii)’ and ‘This place is not a place of honour. Nothing valued is here (iii)’), this collection touches on places both personal and universal.

Honed in live performances (all but the trilogy named above have been performed live at least once, and some, like ‘Curve’, ‘I stand for Trans’ and ‘There is only love’ have been performed a number of times to different audiences and venues) this is a work of poignant, glittering, beauty, peeling back the mask of humanity to reveal something far more delicate and defiant.
