If you do one thing this week, why not get online and improve your digital skills with help and support from Wolves Online at Wolverhampton’s Central Library on Thursday, October 20?
It is just one of many events taking place across the city as part of Get Online Week (October 17-23). Wolves Online works with a network of over 40 community partners who provide devices and data packages to help residents who are struggling to get online and want to improve their digital skills.
Events taking place this week include:
Come along for some free and friendly advice on what you need to know to either update or start your online journey – it’s open to all.
By acquiring or building on your digital knowledge, you can learn how to connect online with friends and family, for example. Or if you’re trying to look for or change jobs, then it’s much easier to do it online and Wolves Online can help with that, too.
Councillor Obaida Ahmed, City of Wolverhampton Council Cabinet Member for Resources and Digital City, said: “We are increasingly living in a digital world at a time when not everyone has access to the equipment or have the knowledge to be able to get online and make the most of how being digitally aware can enhance their everyday lives.
“I am extremely pleased that we are participating in this national initiative once again to help get our local community online and as digitally savvy as possible. Participating in Get Online Week very much aligns with our digital inclusion approach here at the Council and our Wolves Online team have been working hard with key partners to ensure those attending can get the most out of the event.
“I’d encourage everyone who can to attend this Thursday’s event to learn basic digital skills at the workshop. Make becoming more digitally clever the one thing you do this week and find out how it can make your life much easier.”
For those attending throughout the day at Central Library, there’s also the chance to win data and tablets as well as learn the digital skills needed for everyday living.
